My short story, Bird Whisperer, is now published.
As a five year old failed psychic experiment, Trish was moved from the Keeper Complex to a western slopes human village. But as a teenager, when she accidentally reads the thoughts of the village bully and defends her only friend, the villagers force her out of the village.
Now all she has to do is survive alone in her cave until the next Keeper visit, so she can report the villagers and stop their extra benefits for raising her, when they are not doing so.
This Science Fiction short story, Bird Whisperer, is based on Mannuholm, the same world as Diane J Cornwell’s Broken Series.
I apologise to all of you who are waiting for release of the third book in my “Tracker” series.
It is not an excuse, but I have been busy preparing my vegetable garden for winter crops, and spending far too long splitting wood ready for burning.
I did get most of the wood split and stacked but had to stop before I finished, due to blisters from swinging my axe and the wood splitter, which I use as a sledgehammer on the back of the axe to drive it further into the round before the wood finally decides to split for me. So, I have 3 rounds and a few smaller pieces with knots in them waiting for my hands to heal before I attack them, either with the axe or the chainsaw.
Because of my sore hands I have not felt like typing, so my planned release date for the Tracker Book Three has been moved back. However, my hands are healing, so I hope to spend more time writing in the next few weeks, in hopes of a June release. We will see.
I am also editing a short story I wrote some time back in my science fiction “Broken” series world.
Once the final edit has been completed, I hope to release it in June as an eBook only. I have a cover almost ready and will finalise it when the edit is completed, including adding text to show it is part of the “Broken” series. Here is a sneak peek.
Feel free to add suggestions to help improve the cover. 🙂
I am happy to advise that Tift Publishing has now published the first three stories in my Sensing Danger series. The eBooks are now available. The print books are coming soon.
Sensing Danger 1: Rescue has a new cover but has been available for a while. This eBooks is also Free at the moment on Smashwords and other distributors if you wish to download a copy.
Some dreams do become reality.
When Pilot Cambrie Jarvis is rescued from an escape pod, she hides what little knowledge she has of the explosion on S. S. Desert Run. All she wants is to pilot space ships and stop dreaming.
She takes a job as cook on outbound mining freighter S. S. Disco Dancer to evade questions over the space ship explosion and how she survived.
After dreaming of danger to her new ship and crew, she again must decide whether to leave herself open to ridicule and testing by explaining her dream warnings, or remain silent and again hide in an escape pod until the coming accident happens, because if she dreamed it, it will happen.
Sensing Danger 2: Capture is available for US$4.99 on all distributors.
If she dreamed it, it will happen!
When Pilot Cambrie Jarvis has a dream warning of her imminent arrest and transfer to Moon Base prison, she confides in Captain Benson, owner of S.S. Disco Dancer, who suggests she board S.S. Disco Drummer and leave the system as soon as repairs are complete.
While waiting for the completion of the repairs, Cam decides to help search and retrieve the bodies for burial.
The marines arrive before the ship is resealed, and advise Cam will be transferred to Earth for trial for a previous space ship accident. Captain Benson argues arrest documents are not legal, but she realizes her dream warning will happen, so does not resist arrest. She just needs to figure out how to get from Earth to Moon Base while surrounded by marines.
Sensing Danger 3: Freedom is available for US$5.99 on all distributors.
If she dreams it, be prepared!
When Pilot Cambrie Jarvis dreams she will be shot by another pilot, she confides in Captain Benson, owner of S.S. Disco Dancer, but he doubts her warning will happen.
He orders Cam to continue training and testing the two new psychic crew members, but because she kept her ability secret all her life she has no idea how to test other abilities, so suggests the navy should train the psychics, even if they insist she goes with the other psychics.
Because joining the navy would be better than waiting to be shot.
